AFC NEWS Briefs:Summer Skills Registration Open!
America FC United Summer Skills registration is now open. Summer skills will run over 4 weeks from July 8 through August 2. Training will be Monday through Thursday from 8:30 to 10:00am, with players focusing on developing individual technique. Players can select 2 or 4 weeks. The America FC United U14 boys competed in the Cohasset premier league. They finished in 1st place earning a bye into the playoff finals where they met the Weymouth Misfits. The U14 boys played a strong game earning a win by the score of 4-2. Coach Conrad Whyte said "The Championship was attributed to the boys hard work, dedication and good practice habits." The u14 boys now turn their attention to their season opener on Sunday April 7, 2013 at home.
U17 Boys Place First at College Showcase
The America FC United U17 boys team took part in the MPS Thanksgiving Showcase in Lancaster on November 23 to 25th, and placed first in the U17 Boys Select Division. The U17s went undefeated with a record of 2-0-1, winning their last two games after a late tie in the first game. The boys only conceded one goal during the three games while scoring four. The U17s tallied 7 out of 9 possible points, leading the group by 3 points, as the second place team had only 4 points.
AFC U10 Girls Earn Promotion to Division 1 MASC
The America FC United U10 girls earned a promotion to Division 1 of the Massachusetts Soccer Conference (MASC) midway through their fall season. The girls went 3-0-1 without giving up a goal and scoring 13. "The girls are getting better every game, and its really encouraging to see them learning and then using their moves and feints in the games", said Coach Tyler.
AFC U14/U17 Players Make ODP Team
Three players from the America FC U17 boys MAPLE team (Connor D., Cian M. and James O.), one from the AFC U16 MASC boys (Jeremy C.) and one from the AFC U14 boys MASC team (Kevin O.) have made the ODP (Olympic Development Program) team for their respective ages. These players tried out and were selected as one of the 24 members of the Massachusetts boys U17/U14 teams. These teams will train in the winter, spring and will play in a regional tournament during the summer. The ODP program is a great way for players to gain exposure to collegiate, professional, Regional and National team programs.

U16 Boys Earn Promotion to MAPLE Division II
With a 5-2 victory in their promotion game against Galway Rovers, the AFC U16 Boys have been promoted to the 2nd division of MAPLE (Massachusetts Premier League) for next season. This team has been together since the founding of AFC, and has progressed from MASC (Massachusetts Soccer Conference) division II as U13's to now MAPLE II. Following an undefeated season as U14s in MASC, the team entered a MAPLE qualification tournament and qualified for MAPLE division III as a U15s. After struggling as U15s in MAPLE division III, the team soared as U16s, finishing in 2nd place, and leading the league in goal differential and goals scored, averaging 3.5 goals per game and scoring 6 more goals that any other team during the 7 game season. The team will compete as U17s next year in MAPLE division II.
