AFC U13/U14 United Girls

This team will play in the Massachusetts Soccer Conference (MASC).

Like other U13 and Older teams, this group will be focused on implementing the skills they learned through the learning and development phases. Teams will be focused on learning the tactical side of the game, and learning to play in the club style of play, which is predicated on possession. Skill development will continue, but will not be the primary focus. Players will be expected to know a variety of skills that will help them implement game strategy set forth by the club.

At these age groups we will be focusing the teams on "learning to win" and all playing time will be predicated on merit.

If your name was omitted and you are a veteran that plans on playing this season, or attended a tryout, please notify Coach Sheridan immediately.

CLUB PLAYERS ON PRIVATE SCHOOL TEAMS

AFC has a few U13/U14 players that play for a private school 7th or 8th grade team or play as freshmen for their high school  during the fall season. The school's training and game commitments during the week often collide with AFC's training sessions on weekdays. We understand you cannot train twice during on the same day and still get your homework done. If you find yourself in this situation, please email me so I am aware of it. The club discounts the annual training fee for these players during the fall and charges only league fees for Sunday games. Please email me for the details.

TEAM DETAILS
Trains: Fall, Winter, Spring. Summer is highly encouraged but optional.

In-season training: There are two outdoor seasons — Fall and Spring. During these two season, AFC usually fields teams in regional leagues. AFC considers both season developmental seasons at this age.

In season training is Mondays and Wednesday typically starting at 6 p.m. and ending at 7:30 p.m. Street Soccer, which is offered on Friday nights, is optional but recommended. This day can also be used as a makeup day for a missed Monday or Wednesday training session.

Out-of-season training: During the winter, AFC players train indoor twice a week. They typically train 1.5 hours per session.

Tournaments: This team will play in the Winchester Veteran's Day Tournament in November, a preseason tournament in March, and the Cape Cod Challenge during Memorial Day weekend. It will also play in the MASC friendship tournament in early June.
