Great assist from Ellia and Lauren M. Stalwart defending from many players, and great goalkeeping from Ashley and Sarah. All players hustled and gave a great effort.
Top Move Makers of the week! Ella: Making a beautiful step over to gain space Emilia: Making a Ronaldo to change direction and attack another part of the field 4/14/13 AFC VS PTUSA Coastal, 1-0 Goal from Ellia, A long range shot (just outside 18) from a nice follow up on a defensive clear. The girls played a great game, winning with a final score of 1-0. A lot of players attempted moves and worked passing plays. The girls showed a lot of hustle and had numerous opportunities to score. Our defense was outstanding, giving up only 2 shots the entire game and limiting PTUSA chances around the net. Avalon had a key last second poke on a potential breakaway that stopped their best chance. Top Move Makers of the week! Ellia: Scisors cut to move past a defender in the middle of the field Tara: Used a variety of well timed sharp cuts to create an opportunity on goal 4/21/13 AFC VS Riptide, 0-6 The girls were not intimidated by the bigger team and fought hard throughout the game. Ashley made a bunch of saves in net and only let one goal in. In the second half the girls started to push forward and they had some nice passing plays with a beautiful give and go from Victoria. Our defense finally got beat with a couple lucky bounces that just got by Sarah who had been making some great saves and was facing a lot of shots. Overall our goalies and defense kept us in the game until the very end. I was proud of how the girls fought against a bigger team. Top Move Makers of the week! Elizabeth - nice step over to elude a defender in the middle of the field 4/28/13 AFC VS Norwell, 0-4 The girls played a excellent game this weekend. While they lost 4-0 the goals were lucky and the final score should have been more like 1-0. We played excellent defense in the first half only giving up one shot which Elizabeth made a diving save on to keep the game at 0-0. We were making some nice passing plays and got some good transition opportunities. In the second half we came out stronger but gave up a couple unlucky goals, one on a penalty shot which Kate almost saved. The girls started pushing down the field and Ella almost scored with a nice shot to the corner but their goalie was able to dive and knock it away. Overall, the teams were pretty evenly matched despite the other team being a head taller, which speaks to the determination our girls have. Top Move Makers of the week! Sarah D. - Step over to give herself space down the line Ashely G. - For successfully completing the first Octopus move of the season 5/5/13 AFC VS Black Watch Premier, 1-4 With the great weather the girls played one of their best games of the season. I saw more moves made in the first half of this game than any other so far this year, and the opposing coach was asking me about our players after just 5-minutes in. Ashley was on fire in goal, stopping a couple breakaways and only gave up one goal. Ellia quickly tied the game after she was able to split two defenders, firing in a shot into the corner of the net from just outside the box. We gave up a couple quick goals to start the second half, but rebounded and fought back and started to put pressure on the opposing team's goal. Our defense shut them down after that, giving up only one shot in the last 15minutes. Loli and Kate were flying around the field with some excellent dribbling and were getting some good chances. The game ended as a loss, but everyone played a good game and left it all on the field. Special shout out to all our defenders and our two goalies in the second half Ella, and Avalon. Top Move Makers: Emilia H. - Using the Ronaldo multiple times to elude defenders, I think this may be becoming her signature move Avalon M. - Two quick cuts, first an outside cut then and inside cut right after to split the defense 5/12/13 AFC VS Boston Real. 1-1 In a mothers day matchup, AFC squared off against their in town rivals, Real Boston. The game started out with AFC controlling the ball and getting some scoring chances. It was capped off when Avalon took a pass from Ashley, trapping, turning and shooting all in one motion to score the goal. After the goal the game evened out with both teams fighting in the middle of the field. Victoria finished her first half as goalie with a shutout, and we went into the half up 1-0. We started the second half with some good chances, with Emilia, Ella and Elizabeth making some good runs down the wings and creating some chances on goal. Towards the end of the game Real started really pushing forward and the defense was under a lot of pressure, but Sarah was all over it, making a couple really nice saves. In the very last minute we took a penalty in the box, and gave up a penalty shot. Sarah made a valiant effort getting her fingertips to the ball, but it just found its way into the net, leveling the score 1-1. The whistle blew right after the penalty kick ending a hard fought game. Top Move Makers: Avalon: Used a sharp cut to nutmeg her defender and attack down the field. Loli: Used multiple cuts to dart in from the outside and split two defenders before taking a shot that just went wide of the post. 5/17/13 AFC VS PTUSA Coastal, 1-0 Our second matchup against this team saw AFC shorthanded with only 7 players. At the end of the first half the score was 0-0 with each side fighting to gain the lead. Ashley made a brilliant penalty kick save shutting down PTU's best chance at a goal. In the second half Katie took over in goal and Ashley's fresh legs made a fantastic cross giving the ball to Lauren who made a crisp shot into the left corner of the goal with about 10 minutes left. From that point to the end of the game all 7 players protected their lead, gave 110% by fighting off cramps and severe fatigue to make sure their win was secured. TRAINING OUTLINE:This team will play in the Massachusetts Soccer Conference (MASC).

The objective of this team is to begin to transition the skills learned during the learning stage to use in game specific situations, and to begin to understand how to play off of team mates. This team is open to additional players. If you know of any players that are interested, please have them email Coach Tyler.
